OPPO has once again sent us a new device, the OPPO Reno 13F 5G. Given that another Reno model launched just six months ago, we were curious to see how this one holds up. Does it bring anything new to the table, or is it just another iteration of the same formula? In this review, we’ll focus on how the Reno 13F 5G performs as an everyday smartphone rather than a gaming device.

What Do You Get In The Box

OPPO keeps things generous with the packaging. The box contains the device, a sim ejector tool, a USB A to USB C cable, a power brick (45W) and a rubber case. The device comes with a pre-installed screen protector. It’s just the regular sheet of clear plastic film and not any form of glass. OPPO also claims that with the bundled SUPERVOOC power brick, you can get a full charge within an hour and 0% - 44% in 30 minutes.
Design & Construction

At first glance, the OPPO Reno 13F 5G doesn’t try to reinvent the wheel—it sticks to a familiar yet refined design. Measuring 162.2mm tall, 75.1mm wide, and just 7.8mm thick, it’s slightly shorter, thinner, and narrower than the iPhone 16 Pro Max, making it comfortable to hold. Plus, at just 192g, it’s lighter than many flagship devices, including the iPhone 16 Pro (199g).
The graphite grey variant offers a sleek, understated elegance, a nice contrast to some of the more flamboyant Reno color options. The rear camera module follows a subtle yet premium design, with a curved rectangular island and fluted rims that add a touch of sophistication.
Display

The 6.67” AMOLED on the device seems practical and does not look cheap. The device also has refresh rates of up to 120Hz. Everything feels crisp and sharp at 120Hz, however it has no option for refresh rates lower than 60Hz. The screen has a 88.2% screen to body ratio and comes protected with Asahi Glass AGC DT Star2. Moving on, the colors are rendered with a pleasing sense of vibrancy, resulting in a screen that proves more than adequate for everyday tasks, from internet browsing and social media consumption to video playback.
User Interface
Bloatware, bloatware, bloatware. It’s about time OPPO cuts down on all the unnecessary apps and what not. This is getting tiring, having to uninstall and disable quite a number of apps upon setting up the device. The UI is pretty straightforward as it runs Android 15 out of the box with the ColorOS 15 overlay. It’s not too distinct like how Nothing OS is, so it’s pretty easy and direct when navigating through the interface.
Camera
For photography, as a point and shoot camera, this device does the task reasonably well. I mean, for under RM1500 it does justify that price tag. In saying so, corners have been cut to ensure that the device fits under the sub RM1500 category. Of course the Iphones and Samsung Galaxy’s are going to be taking more pleasing pictures, but lets not forget those devices could possibly set you back by an arm and a leg, so please make sure that you do not expect the device’s cameras to perform like them.
The device does take some pretty good low light level photos as you can see above. However if you are looking for vibrant and expressive colors, then the camera may just disappoint you in that aspect. I love how OPPO has redid their watermark layover and implemented a couple of options in this device.
On a side note, useful AI features such as magic eraser, reflection remover improves the overall camera output. Some of these features though requires a working data or wifi connection for it to take place.

As for videography, the device is fully capable of shooting in 4K at 30FPS and 1080p with a maximum of 120FPS. The device also has EIS and OIS to aid in buttery smooth video captures. The cameras do record a good amount of details and depth but they are no means to replacing your mirrorless cameras.
Conclusion
The OPPO Reno 13F 5G is a stylish and reliable phone that works great for everyday use. It has a bright and smooth screen, feels comfortable to hold, and handles daily tasks with ease. While the cameras take decent photos and videos, they can be a bit of a let down if you are expecting to capture your Instagram timeline’s attention. Priced at RM1,399,RM1,499, and RM1,799 , it’s a good choice for anyone looking for a budget-friendly smartphone with useful features and a sleek design that is not going to break your bank.
Final Score : 6/10
